Scope and Contents

This is a relatively large collection of Scout thematic postal covers and postcards. containing Scout-related postage stamps, Scout-related cancellations and/or Scout-related covers/envelops/postcards, covering all years from the 1900s through to the 2010s, including a considerable number of First-Day-Covers, and also a large number of varieties and duplicates. Unique items are arranged by year and by country of issue and scanned for the digital database to facilitate public access; while originals are arranged and preserved in folders and kept in Archives storage, with restricted access based on demonstrated needs.

Abstract

This collection is composed of Scout thematic postal covers and postcards from many countries and covering most years from the early 1900s through to the 2010s.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The collection of Scout and Scout-related covers and postcards was donated to the Hong Kong Scout Archives by William KWAN through a series of transfers starting 2013 through to 2016. These transfers were accessed as they occurred, and re-processed in 2015 to 2016.

Physical Description

The folders containing the Scout thematic covers are arranged in two separate series, each arranged chronologically, one (PL 30.1.1) for covers with Scout thematic Stamps with Scout covers and/or Scout cancellations, and one (PL 30.1.2) for Scout covers and/or cancellations without Scout thematic stamps.

General

This collection is related to another collection of Scout philately items, being Scout thematic stamps, blocks, sheets and albums, also from the same donor (PL 30.2 and PL 30.3).
