Scope and Contents

The collection is consisted of a large number of "Personal Training Records" in the form of separate paper cards each assigned to an individual Adult Member (uniformed or non-uniformed) with periodic entries based on specific training courses which the members have attempted and/or completed, with details related to the dates and certificate nos, etc. These records cover training courses provided to the members from the early 1950s through to the 1980s, when this manual record system was discontinued upon the introduction of automated recording.

Abstract

The collection is composed of individual "Personal Training Records" created by the Training Branch of the (Boy) Scout(s) Association of Hong Kong related to the training of the Adult Members (uniformed and non-uniformed) from the 1950s through to the 1980s.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The collection of records was transferred to the Hong Kong Scout Archives by the Training Branch of the Scout Association of Hong Kong in 2008. It was initially accessed in the same year, and re-processed in October, 2015.

Materials Specific Details

All the records are in English, except for the Chinese names of the Adult Members involved.

Physical Description

While most of the record cards are in very good to good physical conditions, a considerable number of the earlier records from the 1950s are fragile, and brittle, and some records are faded and/or damaged to some extent. Care must be exercised when accessing.

The collection of individual personal record cards are contained in thirty (30) plastic containers and arranged in alphabetical orders.
