Content Description

This collection includes four large black and white photographs of Sir Robert Brown Black as the Governor of Singapore with various uniformed groups in the British Colony of SIngapore, viz., the Boy Scouts (one photo, presentation of colors to the Singapore Scout Contingent), the St. John Ambulance Brigade (two photos, inspection of the female and the male members), and the Boys' Brigade (one phooto, at their annual review and display), taken during his governorship there, from 1955 to 1957.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

These photographs were originally issued by the Singapore Government Information Services, and were transferred to the Hong Kong Scout Archives from the Hong Kong Scout Association headquarters' backup storage.

Condition Description

All four photos are in very good to excellent conditions. They have captions in pencil written on the back, as well as the Singapore Information Services stamp. Scanned copies of these photographs are available and the physical photos should be kept in secured storage and highly restrictive access.
